Overview

The Kingdom is committed to strengthening its cultural identity on the global stage. As part of this effort, sixteen cultural elements have been included in UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Additionally, eight sites in Saudi Arabia have been recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Saudi Arabia's first UNESCO-listed site was the Hegra Archaeological Site, followed by the At-Turaif District in Diriyah. The list has since expanded to include Historic Jeddah, the Rock Art in the Hail Region (Jubbah and Shuwaymis), the Ḥimā Cultural Area, the 'Uruq Bani Ma'arid Reserve, Al-Ahsa Oasis, and the Cultural Landscape of the Al-Faw Archaeological Area.
