Core Concept

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka creates a spatial experience that echoes the exploration of Saudi Arabian towns and cities, provides a setting for immersive audiovisual engagement, and connects visitors with the undiscovered wonders of Saudi Arabia.

Materiality

The Pavilion is constructed using low-carbon materials, features energy-saving luminaires, adopts rainwater recycling, and incorporates photovoltaic technologies to generate electricity.

The structure’s cladding is made from lightweight Saudi stone and is designed for efficient deconstruction, reassembly, or complete reconfiguration to meet various requirements in future locations.

Sustainability

The Pavilion aims to attain the highest level of the Japanese green building rating system and is on track to achieve the Net Zero Operational Carbon target.

In addition, a series of WELL design principles have been implemented to enhance occupant health and well-being.

Spaces

Visitors enter the Pavilion through a verdant forecourt planted with Saudi Arabian flora and walk through narrow streets that lead to the Saudi Courtyard, the beating heart of the design.

Throughout the day, the Courtyard offers moments of quiet reflection and serenity before transforming into a vibrant venue for events and dazzling performances in the evening. Within the Courtyard corridors, visitors will experience stories and interactive spaces, enabling them to discover the wonders of the Kingdom.
